We first heard about Soulfinger awhile back, and we keep getting more impressed. They're a talented music production team that loves classic soul. And they're latest project proves it. Soulfinger pays tribute to the lesser-known gems and giants of the Motown era with the impending Life, Love & Passion LP – a super-limited, hand numbered deluxe vinyl or CD set featuring earth shattering performances from a laundry list of artists whose sounds are derived from the classic soul tradition.
The idea was to highlight and re-record B-sides of lesser known soul music gems from the late 60ties up to mid of 70ties, inviting a variety of amazing artists to perform on one song each. The impressive roster includes Leela James, Jaguar Wright, Teedra Moses, Martin Luther, Joi, Syleena Johnson, Kathy Sledge, Anthony David and others. The project’s stated goal was to avoid the iconic classics, instead placing the spotlight on the lesser-known compositions of the late 60s and 70s.
We're excited about this project and so are many soul music fans, who have pledged over $30,000 to date on Soulfinger's Kickstarter page. And we're even more excited that they've agreed to let us present the Exclusive World Premiere of one of the great cuts from the album: Leela James' brilliant take on the Betty Wright hidden gem, "Value Your Love."
