Two years ago, we absolutely fell in love with Southern Avenue.  On their self-titled debut album, the Memphis fused soul, blues and R&B so effortlessly, they captured us and an awful lot of SoulTrackers.

Now, the group is readying their sophomore release, Keep On, set for release on May 10, 2019 via Concord Records, and the sounds coming out of the studio are just as hot as the first time.

With expressive vocalist Tierinii Jackson upfront, the band, consisting of Ori Naftaly (guitar), Tikyra Jackson (drummer and Tierinii’s sister), and Jeremy Powell (keyboards), delivers one gem after another.

We’re proud to present a sneak peek of a dream combination of this new Memphis band with a half century Stax favorite, the legendary William Bell. “We’ve Got The Music” opens with a plunky guitar leading into a classic soul number that would have fit just as well in 1969 as it does in 2019.

Ori tells us about the song, Having our first record released on Stax Records was a a dream come true, so when I had the opportunity to write with William Bell, a Stax legend, never in my wildest dreams growing up in Israel did I imagine this happening. Who would have thought?! That being said, we really connected...music is the universal language of the human spirit. When life gets you down, when you feel all is lost, you've got the music. Our favorite songs help us get through the hard times and serve as way of comfort when we are feeling lost. That's what this song is about and what we hope it helps people in their times of need.
