If you were to combine the psychedelic rock of the 1960s with the Neo-Soul sounds of the 1990s, you may come up with something that sounds like Space Captain. With singer and lyricist Marlisa Simmons-Cook up front, the band explores sounds not usually found in any one category of music, and somehow makes it all work together.

Space Captain is readying their EP, due next year, and we’re digging the sound of the first single from the album, “Two.” It has a cool R&B sound with a live instrumentation feel behind it, and Simmons-Cook’s voice fits the eclectic song just perfectly. Band co-founder Alex Pyle tells us, "'Two' is the first single taken the first Space Captain EP due out in February of 2016 on UK label 'Tru Thoughts' and represents the sound of the forthcoming EP. The song shows a shift towards more live instrumentation and production experimentation for the group. For the second round of material it was important for the band to expand upon the sound we were working with for the first few singles."

We’re proud to present “Two” as our newest First Listen. Check it out below and get ready to hear more from this Captain.
