First Listen: SWITCH returns with "I Love You More"

(May 8, 2019) Last month we brought you the trailer for the upcoming biopic, The Bobby DeBarge Story.  There's no doubt that Bobby left an indelible impression on soul music with his beautiful falsetto, highlighted during his tenure with SWITCH.  Though Bobby passed away prematurely in 1995, the remaining original members of the band, namely Greg Williams, Eddie Fluellen, Phillip Ingram, and longtime guitarist Michael McGloiry haven't stopped the music.  They've been keeping the group going with performances throughout the country.

The guys have also been in the studio lately and just put out a new single called "I Love You More."  It's a beautiful love song about spending your life with the right one.  The lyrics and vocals go straight to the heart, and are reminiscent of the classics that we know and love from SWITCH like "There'll Never Be" and "I Call Your Name."  In part, the lyrics say: I got to find my way, it's true / Forever looks much better 'cause I'm right here with you...I love you more, I do. And I'm gonna spend my life with you."

Singing lead vocals on this smooth cut, which has an urban adult contemporary feel, is Akili Nickson, who's been with SWITCH since 2003.  He idolized Bobby DeBarge, and you can hear that influence nicely on this track.  Akili also co-wrote the record alongside Roosevelt Griffin, Jr., and SWITCH founder Greg Williams.

In the few days since the release of "I Love You More," SWITCH has been getting rave reviews.  As shared on Phillip Ingram's Facebook page, one radio program director said, "Mannnn, this song is slamming," while another said she's putting the song on her playlist right away.  Yet another person who heard it excitedly exclaimed to Greg Williams, "It's a hit!  This is the 2019 wedding record!" And with wedding season just around the corner or already under way for some, we couldn't agree more with that assessment.

Check out "I Love You More" below, and give some love to SWITCH!
