    (January 2, 2024) For most of the past two years, we have been reporting that, like superstar Taylor Swift, The Whispers were working to control their musical catalog by re-recording some of their biggest hits, thereby retaining the rights to the recordings. The trio has already released new versions of “And The Beat Goes On,” “Rock Steady,” "Keep On Loving Me," “Olivia,” and “This Christmas,” each time working with longtime collaborator Magic Mendez.

    Now for a change of pace, The legendary act is issuing an all new single, a cover of the late Al Johnson’s “Maybe The Fire Isn’t Out.” Now nearly 60 years into an historic career, The Whispers deftly handle the attractive midtempo number, adding yet another terrific single to a familiar discography – and reminding us that their performing fire isn’t out either.
