(December 10, 2023) There aren’t many musical acts that evoke the sunny summers of the 1970s than the massive SoCal band WAR. And for many fans, one of the most revered songs by the band was laid back the ode to sunshine, “Summer.”

Now, more than a half century after we first grooved to the music of WAR, the band is back with its first -ever Christmas song, ironically a holiday reworking of “Summer.”

Here’s how the band describes “(Yes It’s) Christmas”:  It began as an extended jam, which producer Jerry Goldstein sculpted into the final song. Frontman Lonnie Jordan’s lyrics manifest a laid-back, warm-weather Christmas, where kids from all types of neighborhoods dream of Santa dropping off his goodies just for them and the joy of the season.

Whether the tune is just too reminiscent of summer for you, or whether you like the warm vibes as the weather is getting colder, you will enjoy hearing this new music from WAR. Check it out below.
