Sometimes, a combination that works well on paper ends up sounding even better in real life. And that’s the case in the case of a brand new interpretation of a classic Sounds of Blackness song.

Dance label Tribe Records’ leader and internationally known producer, Zepherin Saint, wanted to create a hot, contemporary version of SOB’s signature song, “Optimistic,” so what better way than to bring in the song’s original principal singer, Ann Nesby, along with 3G (Ann’s daughter Jamecia Bennett and granddaughter – and former American Idol finalist - Paris Bennett).  The result is a scorching new look at an old favorite.

Zepherin tells us: "’Optimistic’ is one of my all time faves. It helped me through a difficult time in my own life, as I am sure it has for many when it was originally released. It’s always been on my mind to make a house cover as I would sometimes play the original in my DJ sets to close the night, but I did not feel I was ready until now. The words and sentiment of the song create a lot of emotion on the dance floor, so when thinking of how we were going to commemorate Tribe's 100th release, this just made perfect sense on many levels."

Well, this song works on a lot of levels for us, too, beginning with the big grins on our faces as we hear this great combination. And it could result in yet another Grammy nomination for the lengendary singer. Check out “Optimistic” below and tell us what you think!
