With an initial focus on her vocals and keys (before the arrangement hits full force), Beth explains how she's figuring out what happened in her relationship, but realizes that it's important for her to take her losses and "get back to being me." It’s a song that hints at 90s R&B with the layered vocals and Beth's lead showing her ability to set the pace and deliver a story.

Beth tells us that "’Gotta Get Back’ was initially written about coming out of a bad relationship and realizing how much of yourself you’d lost, with being on a mission to get it back! But with lockdown and no gigs and the industry being at a standstill, the more I worked on the song I realized the lyrics were also driven by the need to get back to normality." It's a double meaning that effectively works.
