Following in his father’s footsteps, “Time Will Reveal” what is in store for singer, songwriter, El Debarge, Jr.
El Patrick DeBarge, Jr. is the eldest son of thirteen children fathered by El DeBarge (of "The DeBarge’s"). In spite of growing up in the hustle and bustle of Hollywood, El was kept very much grounded by his mother, Bobbi Sanders. Being a very "in-tune mom" and recognizing El was blessed with a God-given talent, Bobbi encouraged and inspired El. He was also influenced by his grandmother, “Mama DeBarge”, as she kept them in church. When he began writing lyrics, his mother enrolled him in the prestigious music program at El Camino Real High School in San Fernando Valley. Upon graduation, he began studies at Musicians Institute College of Contemporary Arts in Los Angeles.
El learned a lot at a very early age listening to his father write and produce music. Other members of his renowned musical family also influenced him and reinforced the belief that patience and dedication must be maintained at all times. El routinely reflects on his family’s virtues as he crafts his music, mastering his voice, and developing his performance skills.
Personally, El considers himself to be a very flirtatious guy- a sweet talking ladies’ man, and his music and voice demonstrate just that.
Along with being a great entertainer, El is active in the community as well. In early June of this year El kicked off the VIP Kickoff party for the National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA)- Chicago Chapter and Cliff Levingston (Chapter President). Later that evening some of the Chicago Luvabulls, former NFL player Robert Mackey, and boxer Montell Griffin came out to hear El DeBarge Jr. serenade the crowd with his new tunes "Your Love is Real" and "Shawty R U OK".
El has also excelled in modeling through commercial roles and becoming a spokes model for Stella Hair Care Products. He also toured with legendary DJ Quik for two years as a backup dancer. In 2008, El formed his own music label "InFam Records" [Industry Family Records) collaborating with established producers. El’s smooth R&B pop sound is thrilling audiences – especially the ladies – with music that brings out his intoxicating smile and lethal charisma.
El’s manager, Jae Michals of Entertainment District, is in talks with major sponsors that have reached out to him. His current single and video, “ Shawty R U Okay”, from the new album, The Lion’s Den, is heating up across the country and recently charted on Coast to Coast Hiphop, one of the most respected entertainment engines in the business. Look out for The Secret Weapon to be released on September 4, 2012 entitled “Clubhop”, a six pack of club bangers.
Yes, El is ready to continue the great music legacy set before him!!
