Here's a new take on a classic, in aid of the charity ''Make A Wish'' (a charity granting wishes of children and young people aged between 3 and 17 living with life threatening illnesses). The song was written in 1954 and has been recorded by many including, Frank Sinatra, Nancy Wilson, Peggy Lee and many others. Here, the late great Julie London is teamed with SoulTracks favorite Gregory Porter on a version of "Fly Me To The Moon."
Julie London, was an American jazz and pop singer and actress who's most famous song was, "Cry Me A River." She suffered a stroke in 1995 and was in poor health until her death on October 18, 2000. Julie first recorded the song in 1963 on her album, The End of the World. Gregory Porter recorded his part of the duet only a few weeks ago. He said, “I’m so glad to be able to sing with the great late Julie London. The magic and fire of music never dies …nor does the spirit of Christmas!”. The song has also been chosen as a M&S advertisement this year, so I think it gives this newly recorded postmortem duet lots of hit potential.
