First Listen: Killiam Shakespeare and Lana Knight are "Gone"

    (September 1, 2016) Purveying a worldy mixture of hip-hop and Latin rhythms with R&B melodies and jazz nuances, prominent touring musicians Steve McKie and Corey Bernhard have joined forces with DJ Jazzy Jeff to head up the eclectic studio outfit Killiam Shakespeare. On its debut single, “I’m Gone” (from the mixtape, Season 1), the group spotlights vocalist Lana Knight with a snappy yet cool tune that grooves calmly—but still assertively—to an appealing tale of self-liberation.

    It’s the first taste of a wealth of material that Killiam worked on for the past year, to be unveiled gradually over three volumes. If “I’m Gone” is any indication of what’s to come, then the members’ collective musical experience and wide-ranging abilities are likely to bring lots of freshness to the scene in the coming months.
