His albums have become the stuff of legend. He's become the J.D. Salinger of soul music. UK blue-eyed soul artist, Lewis Taylor made some of the most innovative, intricate and bare naked honest music we've heard in a generation. While sometimes Taylor took his experimentation to inaccessible places, he was never less than flawless in his voice and musicianship. After a gorgeous US debut, Stoned, in 2006 and a rock-influenced Lost Album (re-released 2007) that rivals any of the lost albums from Marvin Gaye, The Beatles, and Brian Wilson, Lewis Taylor announced his retirement. Since it came months after reports of nodes on his vocal cords, many speculated he'd lost his voice. Others believed he left following too many frustrated years of not having his music heard by the broad audience it so richly deserved. Whatever the reason, we miss him and want him back.
