(April 1, 2024) We are devastated to report the passing of noted musician and producer Casey Benjamin at the too young age of 45. Benjamin was revered in the musical world as a multifaceted artist who excelled at saxophone, vocorder, and keyboards, and was also a talented songwriter, producer and singer. His ability to seamlessly flow from hip-hop to jazz to R&B and more made him one of the most in-demand musicians around.

The Queens, New York native worked with a who’s who of modern Black Music artists, from Roy Hargrove to Derrick Hodge to Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Beyonce and so many more. However, it was his pivotal role as the saxophonist and vocorderist for the Robert Glasper Experiment that propelled him to international acclaim, and won for him a Grammy Award for the group’s pioneering 2011 album Black Radio.
