They were one of the truly great bands of the 80s and 90s, but their press didn’t always match their talent. With four top 10 smashes, including the group's signature #1 hit, “Lean On Me,” Club Nouveau was one of the acts that helped re-establish the Bay Area as a R&B hub, two decades after Sly and the Family Stone burst onto the scene.
The legacy of Club Nouveau has only grown over the past three decades and fans around the world have reclaimed the groups discography. And now, a key collection from that discography has come to vinyl, 25 years after its original release.
The Collection brings together eight of the most sought after Club Nouveau songs together in a beautiful package that has never before been available on vinyl. This album chronicles the successes of the Bay Area group throughout its various lineup changes from the short-lived predecessor, Timex Social Club and its number one hit single “Rumors,” through such proven hits as the 1987 # 1 pop chart single “Lean On Me” plus such slept on potential hits as 1992’s “I like Your Way.” Also included in “The Collection” are three brand new 1998 Club Nouveau hit bound tracks; “Keep Using Me,” “What Kind Of Love (Secret Rendezvous),” and “Why (You Wanna Make Me Cry).”
