We are sad to inform SoulTrackers of the death of Curtis Blandon, known mostly as a top notch songwriter, but also an artist who released some excellent singles as a singer.

The Alabama-born Blandon grew up in a musical family, with his older brother Richard being part of the group The Dubs. In the 60s he teamed with producer Teddy Powell and they supported several soul music acts of that time. He also was a member of the vocal group the Vocaleers and had a solo career, which included the minor hits “Mr. Imagination” and “This is The End.”

During the 1970s, Blandon focused more on his songwriting and provided a number of album cuts for other artists, including Gloria Gaynor. He also continued to record sporadically, releasing his final album in 2007.
