(February 18, 2019) Kofi Burbridge, multi-instrumentalist and founding member of Tedeschi Trucks Band, died on Friday, February 15, 2019 at the age of 57. His death happened on the release day of TTB's new album, Signs, which acknowledges the passing of friends and family of the band through songs of elegy, hope and endurance. Kofi Burbridge played keyboards, flute and did the string arrangements on this beautiful new project.
Tedeschi Trucks Band had announced in January, 2019 that Burbridge was dealing with complications related to his heart surgery in 2017, and would need to take a break from touring. The band is currently on tour to promote Signs and performed at The Warner Theatre in Washington, DC on Friday evening after receiving the devastating news of the loss of their beloved brother, friend and fellow band member. They closed the performance with Joe Cocker's "Space Captain," as a tribute to Kofi Burbridge.
