March 3, 2010 - (NEW YORK, NY) - Nona Hendryx, funk-rock innovator and co-founder of legendary group Labelle, continues to bring an impressive mix of independent musicians together for the monthly UnFiltered Music Series at S.O.B.'s in Manhattan. Slated to appear on the March 25th bill are soul rocker Res from Philadelphia, Harlem-based indie soul singer-songwriter Russell Taylor, and Nashville-Los Angeles acoustic pop duo JohnnySwim a.k.a Abner Ramirez and Amanda Sudano (daughter of Donna Summer and Bruce Sudano). All artists have garnered considerable kudos from print and online press:

Res: "A soul-power chick...unique and emotionally direct." (Rolling Stone)

Russell Taylor: "This brotha' is the real deal." (Urban Network)

JohnnySwim: "The two come off seamless and natural." (The Tennessean)

"Artists at every level are invaluable to society," explains Nona Hendryx about the sprit of UnFiltered. "They entertain, inspire, calm and transform humanity. Many artists put into action the virtue of generosity, ‘giving is receiving', sharing their talents without compensation. Without recognizing and supporting the economic welfare of the giver, the artist, we all lose. Take a moment to imagine a world without music, dancing, singing, paintings, pictures or books in any form." Based in NYC, the original incarnation of "UnFiltered" debuted as "HopeStock: Music to Bailout Your Soul" in June 2009. Hendryx and the HopeStock team produced shows in Manhattan (Merkin Hall, S.O.B.'s), Brooklyn (Galapagos Art Space), and The Hamptons (Guild Hall). The shows included a range of local, national, and international touring artists. Featured performers included Maiysha, Bobby Long, Mary McBride, Reuben Buchart, Maya Azucena, Beth Arentsen, Brazz Tree, and MuthaWit In conjunction with an invitation from S.O.B.'s to hold a monthly concert series, "HopeStock" relaunched as "UnFiltered" in January 2010. The concert still retains its central mission of giving artists a platform to expand their audience, collaborate with other artists, and bring their talent to a world-famous club in Manhattan. Tickets for the March 25th show are $15 in advance, $20 day of show. Show begins at 8:00 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at TicketWeb ( HYPERLINK "http://www.ticketweb.com" www.ticketweb.com) or at S.O.B.'s box office, 200 Varick Street, (212) 243-4940.
