A D.C. native, Malachi counts Go Go – the city’s homegrown music made famous by Chuck Brown – as an influence, and is a performer and promoter of the music. Malachi believes Go Go should be a genre in its own right rather than being categorized with R&B. Malachi’s anthem “We Like Money” fuses the percussive sound of Go Go with a Caribbean beat, complete with steel drums. She wrote the tune because she wants people to rethink the way that they express need. “I believe that if you need a dollar, saying ‘I don't have a dollar’ won't help you. Instead say ‘I'd like to have a dollar.’ This will prepare your mind to make that dollar.” “We Like Money” is positive, fun and funky. Take a listen.
