We’ve been keeping a close watch on this performer since his Top 40 Gorillaz hit, “ Doncamatic,” some four years ago. We also raved over Daley’s EP debut, Those Who Wait, and recommended with a smidge less enthusiasm his commercial release, Days and Nights, earlier this year. One delectable bit of doo-wop we never lost any enthusiasm for was the lead single for Daley’s major label project, the Pharrell produced “Look Up.” Lyrically, the song itself is layered and reflective of the difficulties of grown up love, not of the fly by night or overnight kind: “I wish that we could face/the things that hold us back/instead we choose to chase/the things we know won’t last/there’s so much we lack/but something keeps me hanging on/yeah some feelings they never go, so…/Look up.” This isn’t kiddie love coming from the 24 year-old artist from Manchester, England.

Now there’s a behind-the scenes look into the life of the artist himself as the shimmery song plays soundtrack. Less a concept video than a promo about the rise of this young UK star on the move, the video works on the strength of the song and the likability and seeming humility of its creator. Give it a look, and if you’re down, cop and play this cut; things may begin to look up. They certainly are for Daley.
